Volunteer Opportunities at Central Iowa RSVP—Connecting People to Purpose

Community and Family Resources

Volunteers are needed to put labels on brochures.  Labels can be done fro your home.

Pleasantview and Sunset Heights Elementary

Reading Buddies are needed to read one-on-one with children pre-K through 3rd grade. One hour a week, you choose the grade level and day of the week.  Consider this volunteer opportunity for the fall of 2017.

All Cultures Equal

“Friends Helping Friends” is a project designed to allow community members to share their skills by teaching classes or mentoring others in their area of interest. Suggested classes include cooking favorites for good health, exercise, basic computer, or any other ideas you may have.

Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

The activities director at Crestview is looking for people to be friendly visitors to residents who don’t have family in the area. Helping at a nursing home is a blessing to the residents and to yourself.

ISU Extension and Outreach—

Volunteers are sought who will be trained to be program presenters for the Food Assistance Outreach program. This program is designed to inform seniors of the availability of help with food expenses.

Meals on Wheels

looking for people willing to substitute for regular route drivers to deliver meals, routes run M-F, 11:15-12:15. Be a bright spot in an older person’s day!

RSVP BASE Senior Fitness Exercise Program—

Free exercise classes are offered by RSVP to all seniors. There are two


50-minute classes a week, led by RSVP volunteers. New classes starting in Stanhope, Jewell and Blairsburg. Anyone   interested in being trained to lead the exercise classes may contact RSVP.

Van Diest Medical Center—

Greeters and guides are needed to meet people as they come in to the hospital and take them where they need to go.The Hospital Auxiliary is seeking new members willing to help in the gift shop. There is a small Auxiliary membership fee which goes towards scholarships for local nursing students.

  • Crestview Senior Apartments (WC)--T & Th 8:00am
  • Duncombe Community Center--T & Th 9:00am
  • Faith United Methodist Church (WC)--M W F 8:00am
  • Fuller Hall (WC)--M & W 9:30am
  • Jewell United Church of Christ--M & Th 5:30pm
  • Montgomery Memorial Library, Jewell--M W F 8:30am
  • Southfield Assisted Living (WC) M & W 9:30am
  • Stanhope Community Center--T & F 11:00am
  • Stanhope Fitness Center--M & W 6:00pm
  • Trinity Lutheran Church (WC)--T & Th 4:00pm
  • Webster City Senior Center--M & W 10:30am

If you are interested in participating in a BASE Senior Fitness exercise class, please contact RSVP Volunteer Coordinator Becky Koppen at 515-832-2525. Classes are free to seniors age 55+.
